My Sesilåmi debut didn’t go exactly as planed. The weather was great and I felt ready for the 53 km Cross Country Ski trip. I managed well, I think, up to the eating stop/station at Øyuvsbu (1030 m.o.h.). At that time things looked good. My crosscountry skies had perfomed well up the slopes from Brokke (520 m.o.h.).
Then when starting on the last 30 km, downhill, I met a friend in the steep hills. My friend had started 1 1/2 hour before me (mosjonsgruppa), and now he had been runned down from behind. (It was 1600 participants so it’s quite a challenge to avoid being hit.) Then when I did my turning maneuvers, to avoid hitting my friend sitting in middle of the slope, I fell. I fell pretty badly.
The Red Cross-crew thought I might had broken my clavicle. It did hurt. This experience where new for me and I had to ”bryte”. No more skiing for me that day…
After being to radiography, at the hospital in Flekkefjord, I could confirm that nothing was broken… except, perhaps, my pride ; (
